Owl Pine Lake Sutherland Cabin

Nestled into the Olympic National Forest, perched on the edge of Lake Sutherland - you’ll find yourself in awe of the views of a seemingly live and ever changing painting just out the large lake facing windows of Owl Pine. Minutes walk down to private beachfront with large dock and fire pit surrounded by comfy Adirondacks, you’ll be entertained inside or out with this whimsical cabin full of games, puzzles and an unforgettable night sky! AWD + Carrying Chains required in Winter.

Good to know

As you enter Owl Pine, you’ll find yourself in the hallway that leads to the living room straight ahead, the kitchen just to the right and the only bathroom first thing on your left. Once you’ve emerged from the hallway, you’ll find that we’ve set up a pull out queen cabinet bed to your left. If you’d like to have a single story experience - everything you need is on the floor you entered on, for up to 2 guests. From the queen cabinet bed, you’ll be facing the screen doors that look over the lake. There are curtains and blinds to darken the room if you’d like but we recommend leaving them wide open so you can wake up for sunrise coffee. Between the cabinet bed and the doors out to the back deck, you’ll find a table with seating for four. Across the room, there is a super comfy, deep couch that can be seen through the bookshelf that we’ve loaded with games, puzzles and books. If you’d like to utilize the lower floor, you’ll have to descend down a metal staircase. It is whimsical and a tight fit, but not to worry - it’s completely safe! Downstairs is the secondary living space with another couch, additional lounge chairs, a smart TV and a traditional bedroom. In the bedroom, you’ll find two nightstands, table lamps, a heater, portable fan, darkening curtain, 100% cotton sheets and duvet cover with plenty of extra blankets and pillows. The perfect place to stowaway. We dare you not to go into hibernation. Outside the home, you’ll discover 100 ft of private lakefront beach that is just down an impressively maintained switchback trail. In a short 3 minute walk, you’ll find yourself in Lake Sutherland. Bring down a blanket or even a sleeping bag to stargaze on the oversized dock. During the day, you’ll find yourself spoiled, with the premier spot to swim, kayak or launch your paddle board. Do note that to the East, the neighbors beach begins and they have their own private dock and bonfire area. Please do not use their area.

Other Details to Note

Parking: Spaces are located directly in front of the cabin and on the landing above the cabin. 4WD is required for parking in front of the cabin, as the driveway to access the cabin is STEEP, NARROW and sometimes MUDDY in the rainy season and icy in the winter. There is an access path with handrails, from the plateau parking spot down to the cabin or you can walk down the driveway. The walk from the landing to the front door takes 1-2 minutes. We recommend first arriving in daylight. Guests will be responsible for a tow if they get stuck. Outdoor Firepit: BYO firewood to enjoy a fire, unless we are experiencing a county-wide burn ban, check the Clallam county website for details July-October. Washer& Dryer: Located OUTSIDE the cabin in a small shed. Dock Access: To the right of the cabin, there is a SHARED trail down to the small beach and the Owl Pine private dock. The dock is used for swimming, kayaking and paddle boarding. In the past these items have been provided. We now ask that you bring your own or rent some from Shadow Mountain (gas station 10 minutes from the house).

The cabin was the perfect home base for our weekend on the Olympic Peninsula! Super cozy place - it had a comfy and deep couch, lots of board games/puzzles, cute vintage touches, and the windows provided beautiful lake views. Hannah was very responsive for any questions we had, and even went out of her way to deliver us an appliance that the kitchen didn’t already have. Check-in was flexible, kitchen was decently stocked, everything was very clean, and the house was quiet & private. When outside on the deck, you could hear a bit of highway noise. A few notes to be aware of: - unique layout (1 bed and the only bathroom on the entry level. The only actual bedroom is down a spiral staircase) - last bit of the driveway is steep. We made it fine in a Mazda CX-5 when dropping off bags, but opted to park on the plateau above (1-2 min walk) for the remainder of the trip out of caution - no dishwasher Overall - fantastic Airbnb, would certainly recommend both the host and the space!!

Unbelievable sight! I will be coming to visit again just for the view itself. The place is cozy, comfortable and relaxing. There was plenty of space for us to enjoy and amenities to use. I definitely do recommend the appropriate vehicle to get there because the roads can get steep and muddy due to the weather. Not a lot of stores close by so be equipped before arrival so you won’t have to worry about leaving your peace!
